OUR MISSION:

"Hands helping others."

The Saint Patrick Community Garden actively engages youth, families and individuals from the community to develop creative skills in sustainable urban living and organic gardening.

WHO WE ARE

The Saint Patrick Community Garden is a place for people to plant, harvest, and grow together as a community! Our garden is sponsored and hosted by Saint Patrick Catholic Church. As a non-profit community garden, our year-around volunteers grow vegetables/flowers for their own personal use and share them with the community through St. Vincent DePaul Food Bank.

In addition to maintaining a community garden, Saint Patrick plans to provide ongoing educational classes in intensive gardening and food preservation, along with helping to create other community gardens like ours.
HANDS HELPING HANDS:
The Saint Patrick Community Garden is a place to share God's love, by not only helping ourselves, but helping our surrounding communities.  We have been incredibly blessed by volunteers, community members, local businesses and schools, as well as the Oregon Food Bank's support and their clients. Their donations, talent, and time working together have created our community garden --- Hands helping hands.
Our goal is to provide information to create your own food bank/community garden, where gardeners come to have a free garden for their own family and a second garden for the Food Bank.  Have your own garden, plant a row for your nearest food bank, and help them provide fresh produce for their clients.
Come garden with us!
OUR STORY:
The Saint Patrick Community Garden provides gardeners with a unique gardening experience; which allows gardeners to cultivate a garden plot for themselves and another for the St. Vincent DePaul Food Bank.
Our garden was created without financial backing from our parish; instead, we gathered funding through
community outreach, sponsorships, and individual donations.
Our community garden began in 2012 with a total of twenty garden plots planted within the church grounds. During our first season, our community garden produced over 1,300 pounds of organic produce for St. Vincent DePaul Food Bank clients.
In 2013, the garden expanded to sixty-eight individual and food bank plots, producing over 5,000 pounds of organic produce for the food bank, and continues to do so to this day.  This enables the Food Bank to provide a fresh produce option for 250 families weekly from Canby, Oregon City, Molalla, and Aurora.
We truly appreciate the on-going support and thank everyone who has opened their heart to support our cause.
